This song has been a favorite at peace gatherings and rallies. I wrote it after my mother-in law , told me that she needed a song for an up coming event. She said we need a song to get every one together ! I play it in the key of G or F on my banjo (see TAB) and sometimes get everyone to sing on the chorus; It’s up to you (It’s up to you) To Carry On (to carry on) Lift your voice (Lift your voice) and Sing along (sing a-long) .here I have the crowd hum along while I sing, “One Day Lord, we’ll All Be Gone, then, the audience, joins me again It’s Up To You To Carry On!
